frolicking

April 24th 2024, oil

just a silly little painting.

April 24th 2024, oil

struggling a bit to get back into painting.

thought I'd start with a small study.

I really like how the shading and the shape of it came out.

I would say it's a decent start.

I like this one quite a bit.

it's very evocative.

still working out how to use paper tape in my paintings.

I like how the texture of the dust against the drywall came out.

I find inspiration strikes more often lately.

this one came out a little better than the last.

love drawing hands.

often struggle with it though.

the perspective is always a bit off - especially on the ring and little finger.

I do like the shading.

for the most part.

April 10th 2024, charcoal/pencil

taking a short break from oil painting.

thought I'd pick up drawing again in the meantime.

had to go over it in pencil because the charcoal was awful quality.

the structure is a bit off, and I'm still learning how to do shadows properly.

I don't mind it too much though.

practice is practice.

intrigue

April 9th 2024, audio

this is a rather Layton-esque snippet.

I really like how the piano came out.

less so the accordion.

I tried my best to make it sound more 'real' but it doesn't seem to take the high notes very well.

I've got a long way to go.

this is part two of the light series.

I think this is my favourite of the two.

reminds me of Necrotomigaud by Ivan Seal.

there is something beautiful and haunting about the way the tape lifts off the canvas.

sometimes I'm afraid these blurbs may sound pretentious - but I really love this sort of work.

refraction (light, 1)

April 7th 2024, oil

this is part one of the light series.

I love the vibrancy of the colours.

though there is a lot of bleeding and not all the coats are even.

I still really like it though.

I love this one.

I adore the intensity and contrast of the colours.

I think it's one of my favourites.

I don't like this one all that much.

but I think it's important to stick by what you make.

even when it's not quite right.

I do like the colours and the effect of the brushstrokes.

so I guess I did get something from it after all.

there is a land somewhere but where I don't know

April 4th 2024, audio

I started making music again.

this one is just a simple set of loops.

I really like the piano and the harp, and the way they come together.

I don't mind the synth voice either.

would like to tackle more interesting melodies soon.
